Olway® was never meant to be a company.
2023
Our founder was training 15–20 hours a week on the bike. Good paying job. Knew performance nutrition was important. But still didn't fuel every session, because it was too expensive.
It was limiting his performance on the bike — and affecting how he showed up at work, and with family, after under-fuelling his training.
The decision
He decided to make a change. He designed a formula for himself, with no intention of starting a company.
Over the next year, teammates, competitors, and athletes in the community started to ask questions.
What he found
He realized the problem he faced was not his own. Everyday Athletes were under-fuelling because of price.
He didn't want to start a company purely based on price. So he engaged a team of food scientists, and asked them one question.
"If we designed a formula specifically for Everyday Athletes' needs, what would be different?"As it turns out, a lot.
2024
That question turned into a first-of-its-kind study with 100+ Canadian athletes to understand their real fuelling needs.

The gap
95.7%
of athletes in our study were consuming 90g of carbohydrates or less per hour. The industry primarily designs formulas optimised at 120g+ per hour. When an athlete uses one of those products at lower intakes, it's far less efficient — often causing gut discomfort.
The solution

Based on the learnings from the study, our team created Performance Drink Mix — 10% more efficient* for the needs of the Everyday Athlete compared to the leading competitor.
The commitment

Then came price. We made a commitment to sell our products for 30% less than the industry average. Not by cutting corners on quality. By selling at a lower margin.
Because it's the right thing to do.
